The Settings page allows you to configure global defaults that apply across your entire inventory.

Accessing Settings

Navigate to App Setting from the main menu.

Why Time Zone Matters

Your time zone setting affects:

  • When notifications are sent
  • How dates are displayed in reports
  • Daily consumption calculations

Configuring Time Zone

  1. Go to App Settings
  2. Select your time zone from the dropdown
  3. Click Save

Choose the time zone that matches your business operations.

Inventory Thresholds

Global Defaults

These settings apply to all products unless overridden at the variant level:

Safety Stock Days

Purpose: Maintains a buffer to prevent stockouts

Recommended starting values:

  • Conservative: 7-10 days
  • Moderate: 5-7 days
  • Aggressive: 3-5 days

Overstock Days

Purpose: Alerts when inventory exceeds target levels

Recommended starting values:

  • Fast-moving goods: 30-45 days
  • Standard retail: 45-60 days
  • Slow-moving/seasonal: 60-90 days

Lead Time

Purpose: Accounts for order fulfillment time in reorder calculations

How to determine:

  • Review historical supplier delivery times
  • Include processing and shipping
  • Add buffer for receiving and inspection

Validation Rules

The system enforces these rules:

  • Safety stock days must be less than overstock days
  • All values must be positive numbers
  • Lead time cannot exceed 180 days
  • Threshold values cannot exceed 365 days

Saving Changes

  1. Modify any settings
  2. A save bar appears at the top
  3. Click Save to apply changes
  4. Or click Discard to revert

Changes take effect immediately after saving.

Impact of Changes

When you update global settings:

  • All variants using global defaults are recalculated
  • Inventory status may change for some products
  • Reorder recommendations update accordingly

Variants with custom per-product settings are not affected.

Best Practices

Start Conservative

Begin with higher safety stock and adjust downward based on experience.

Review Quarterly

Schedule regular reviews of threshold settings to ensure they match current business conditions.

Document Changes

Note when and why you changed settings for future reference.
