The Data Sync step imports your Shopify data into StockWise for analysis.
What Gets Synced
Products
- Product names and titles
- Variant information
- SKUs
- Prices
- Inventory tracking status

- Historical order data
- Line items and quantities
- Order dates
Sync Process
Automatic Import
Once you reach this step, StockWise automatically begins importing:
- Product catalog: Your complete product list
- Inventory levels: Current stock counts
- Order history: Based on your Order Sync Days setting
Progress Indicator
A progress bar shows sync status:
- Products synced
- Orders processed
- Estimated time remaining

What Happens Behind the Scenes
- API calls: StockWise reads data from Shopify's API
- Data processing: Information is organized for analysis
- Calculations: Daily consumption rates are computed
- Status assignment: Each variant gets an inventory status
After Initial Sync
Ongoing Synchronization
After onboarding, StockWise continues syncing:
- Inventory: Updated regularly
- Orders: New orders captured daily
- Products: Changes detected automatically
Data Freshness
Your dashboard reflects data from the last sync. Sync typically runs multiple times per day.
Troubleshooting
Sync is taking too long
For very large catalogs:
- Be patient—first sync takes longest
- Subsequent syncs are much faster
- Refresh the page if stuck over 15 minutes
Products missing
Products may not appear if:
- Inventory tracking is disabled in Shopify
- Product was added very recently
- Product is archived or deleted
Orders not importing
Check:
- Order Sync Days setting
- Order status (only completed orders count)
- Date range of orders
Stuck at sync step
If sync appears frozen:
- Wait 5 minutes
- Refresh the page
- If still stuck, contact support
Data Requirements
Minimum for Basic Function
- Products with inventory tracking enabled
- At least 14 days of order history
Recommended for Accurate Forecasts
- 30+ days of order history
- Consistent order data
- Accurate inventory levels in Shopify
Privacy Note
StockWise only reads data necessary for inventory forecasting. We do not:
- Access customer personal information
- Modify your products or orders
- Share data with third parties
